JAMES P. SANDLER

A graduate of Princeton University, Mr. Sandler served as Captain in the United States Army Reserve on active duty with the 3rd Armored Division in Germany from 1958-1959. After his honorable discharge, Mr. Sandler went on to Harvard Law School. He received his Juris Doctor degree in 1962.  He was a Lecturer on Law at the University of Connecticut Law School from 1967 to 1969 and served on the American Arbitration Association's Advisory Panel. In 2005, the Eastern Connecticut State University awarded Mr. Sandler an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.

Mr. Sandler is a member of the Hartford County, Connecticut and American Bar Associations. He is licensed to practice law in Connecticut.   

Mr. Sandler has represented numerous municipalities and The Metropolitan District (regional water and sewer authority) in public utility, energy facility and regulation, project development, litigation matters, labor and general public sector issues.  He was counsel to the State of Connecticut in the Bridgeport Resources Recovery Facility litigation and as counsel to Live Nation, Inc. and its predecessors, he has been engaged in a wide range of actions.
 
Mr. Sandler's community affairs include serving as a member of the Mayor's Committee in Hartford as Chairman of the Housing and Code Enforcement Subcommittee from 1968-1971; President of the Community Resources for Justice from 1973-1979; a member of the Hartford Development Commission from 1972-1987 and Chairman of that same commission from 1974-1987; Trustee of the Connecticut Junior Republic from 1980-1988; Co-Chairman of The Governor's Commission on Quality and Integrated Education in 1989 and 1990; a member of Connecticut's Commission on the Arts from 1991-1995 and a member of the Connecticut Energy Advisory Board from 1976-2008 and Chairman of that same board from 1980-1994.  Mr. Sandler also served as a member of the Connecticut Law Revision Commission from 1993-1997; and the Connecticut Task Force on Restructuring the Electric Industry from 1995-1997. 

Mr. Sandler is currently an advisor to The Michael Bolton Charities.  He has recently been awarded the Connecticut Secretary of State's Public Service Award.
